Lecture of Prof. Ulf Zander ”The Good German and the Righteous Swede – Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg 1945–2012”
2012 is anounced as the year of the famous Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg. R. Wallenberg saved many Jews during the Second World War by giving them Swedish temporary documents. Then he disappeared in Siberia after beying arrested by the Soviet security services.
Swedish, Hungarian and Israeli Embassies are organizing a joint event, which will include an exhibition of R.Wallenberg displayed in documentary film, and the famous Swedish scientist professor Ulf Zander will present a paper. On this occasion IIRPS Northern European Studies Centre will also contribute to this event by organizing the lecture of Professor Ulf Zander about Jewish rescuers " The Good German and the Righteous Swede – Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg 1945–2012". The speaker will talk about the personalities of those two characters and will cover the historical understanding of the development of interpretation techniques, and the changes in public interest in these historical figures after the Second World War.
Prof. Ulf Zander will be presented by assoc. prof. Mindaugas Jurkynas.
The lecture will be held at Vilnius University, Vokiečių str. 10, Vilnius, on December 4 at 3 PM.
