Join Us at the Introduction Events of the Candidate for the Position of VU Rector

The VU Rector election process is underway. In January, public introductions of the candidate for the position of VU Rector, Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, will take place, giving the VU community the opportunity to get to know the candidate and his vision, as well as ask him questions. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, 15 January, at 15:00 at a public meeting of the Council in the Senate Hall.

You are invited to watch and participate in public events:

• On 15 January at 15:00, Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas will introduce himself at a public meeting of the Council in the Senate Hall (Universiteto g. 3, Vilnius). Live streaming will be available here.
• On 17 January at 13:00, the candidate’s introduction will take place in the Theatre Hall (Universiteto g. 3, Vilnius) The event will be moderated by Dr Rūta Kupetytė, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Communication of Vilnius University. All members of the VU community are invited to participate and ask the candidate questions, while those unable to attend in person will be able to watch the discussion remotely here.
• On 20 January at 16:00, the candidate will meet with students at an open meeting of the Parliament of VU Students’ Representation in the Scholarly Communication and Information Centre (Saulėtekio al. 5, Vilnius). Live streaming will be available here. The meeting will be translated into English and Lithuanian Sign Language.

This series of public introductions provides an opportunity for the entire VU community to get involved in the Rector's election process, get to know the candidate's programme in detail, and ask him questions. We encourage you to seize the opportunity to attend the events live or watch the live streams on VU's Facebook and YouTube accounts.

The public introduction events will be followed by closed meetings of the VU Council:

• On 22 January at 15:00, a presentation of the candidate to the members of the Council will take place at a closed meeting of the Council (Universiteto g. 3, Vilnius).
• On 23 January at 15:00, the newly elected Council will make its final decision and elect the Rector of Vilnius University at a closed meeting.

The candidature of Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas for the position of VU Rector was approved on 27 November at the last meeting of the VU Council for the 2019–2024 term.
