Scientific discussions towards the Anthropocene that started a few decades ago are spreading fast around different countries and communities. The epoch of the Anthropocene embodies changes in the Planet that are dominated by human activities, such as excessive agriculture, industrialization, deforestation, nuclear contamination and the pollution of oceans and skies. Number of scholars agree that we live in new epoch, that prompts us to rethink the agency of the human beings as we have become a physically dominating species which is collectively occupying new territories and impacting ecological processes and are no longer just biological, but also geological agents. Eventually, the reflections on the Anthropocene epoch embrace the reconsideration of educational processes and changes too that will on the focus of the International Conference.
The International Conference aims to look on educational policy and culture for the future of teacher education and general schooling through local and global challenges that rapidly changes the world and bring uncertain and unstable future, such as climate change, armed conflicts, digitalization, radicalization. There is no doubt that the future of society and solutions for global challenges is directly related with the future of general education. Moreover, educational policy itself also face many challenges such as how to develop of high-quality teaching force and decrease teacher shortages in general education, how to harmonize rising expectations for schooling and higher education (inclusive education, integration of educational technologies, individualization of educational processes) and provide more flexible educational systems.
