International Recognition of VU Satellite “LituanicaSAT-1”
On June 9 Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation provided Vilnius University satellite "LituanicaSAT-1" with the official OSCAR number LO-78 (International Amateur Radio satellite registry).
The register includes only those satellites that are successful amateur radio repeater equipment and can establish a connection with the satellite radio stations located on Earth.
"Congratulations to all of Lithuania! We have exceeded our expectations. It is the highest recognition and reward to the international radio amateurs in the world", says Žilvinas Batisa, one of the VU satellite team members.
Although the mission of the satellite "LituanicaSAT-1" is coming to an end, it is still operating on orbit following a tight schedule. Those who want to utilize the above satellite and establish a connection have to obtain the permission of the Communications Regulatory Authority of Lithuania, a radio call sign and have the proper radio equipment for satellite communication.
