Sukurta: 28 March 2014

The President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.One month passed since the satellite "LituanicaSAT-1" has been released into the open space. In the early hours of 22 March the team of the satellite announced the pre-recorded greetings of the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė to all Lithuanians around the world from an altitude of 400 kilometres.

"The first Lithuanian satellites not only sent greetings to Lithuanians, but they also communicated a very clear message to the world that Lithuanians are creative, resourceful and innovative, they engage actively into the development of new technologies as well as space research. I hope that our scientists and entrepreneurs will continue successfully to pursue the mission to create Lithuania and glorify it around the world," said the President.

Amateur radio communicators were lucky to capture the Presidential greeting several times during the 22–24 of March and it is expected to be heard to the world in future as well.

"LituanicaSAT-1" team plans a new challenge: to take pictures of the Earth from space and send the photographs to a satellite control station.

"Preparation for this challenging task can take up to an early summer, when the orbit illumination reaches 100%. The mission aims not only to develop and test the equipment, but also to understand the laws of nature far beyond the boundaries of our everyday life," Vytenis Buzas, the Head of the Mission, reveals the future plans.
