Final Week to Apply for the Position of the Rector of Vilnius University

There is only one week left to submit applications for the ongoing competition for the position of the Rector of Vilnius University. The application, motivation letter, and other required documents must be sent by email or delivered through any other specified means by 17:00 on 28 October 2024.

The competition is open to persons of impeccable repute with a doctoral degree in science (arts) and recognised artists of impeccable repute with teaching and managerial experience. Candidates must prove that they are aware of the University’s mission, uphold its values, and are motivated to ensure the highest quality of the University’s activities. The position is also open to candidates not currently employed at the University.

In 2024, the Rector’s official remuneration is set at EUR 14,400. At the time of the conclusion of the employment contract with the winner of the competition, the remuneration will be recalculated on the basis of 2024 data.

Once the registration period closes, the Senate of Vilnius University will examine the applications and report to the Council of Vilnius University on candidates’ suitability. Approved candidates will present themselves publicly to the VU community, after which the Rector will be elected by secret ballot of the Council for a five-year term.
