Dissertations of the VU young scientists are among the best ones
Young scientists were invited to the Lithuanian Presidential Palace on April 23 to collect the awards for the best dissertations of the year 2013. Young researchers from different Lithuanian universities, such as Vilnius University, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences , Kaunas University of Technology, Klaipeda University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, competed in physics, technology, biomedical and agricultural sciences, humanities and social sciences, environmental categories.
Three winners were announced as the best authors of their dissertations, two of which are the young scientists of our Alma Mater, Vilnius University.
The Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite expressed her recognition of the young scientists: "Today we congratulate the authors of the best dissertations, which is in fact a gift to all of us and also to the future of Lithuania. Your scientific talent, your victories provide us with great expectations for a competitive and creative future of our country worldwide. Today we welcome the young scientists who reached the peak of their first scientific research and hopefully will never stop at the first victory".
Professor Jūras Banys, the Acting Rector of Vilnius University appreciated highly the achievements of the young scientists."The results of the competition show that the level of our young researchers is high indeed!", Rector said.
Seventy dissertations were submitted for the competition this year. This initiative started 8 years ago and it is carried on regularly by the Lithuanian Society of Young Researchers.
