Blockchain: a Data Revolution
Tommorow, Decemper 6th, Vilnius University (VU) will host a scientific event “Blockchain: a Data Revolution”.
Prof. Dr. Andranik Tumasjan (Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany) will open the event with his lecture “Blockchain: Hype or Hope? The Potential and Limitations of Blockchain Technologies”. Subsequently, Andrius Adamonis (Bank of Lithuania) and Vytautas Kašėta (Blockchain Centre Vilnius) will discuss the question from Lithuania’s perspective.
Dr. A. Tumasjan is professor and head of the research group of Management and Digital Transformation at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. His current research and teaching focuses on the potential of blockchain technology for novel business models and organizational forms. He will touch upon this topic in his lecture, which will also include insights about crypto token designs and the appropriate application of blockchain technology in business processes. He argues, that “blockchain technology has recently emerged as a novel technology that is often considered to be a potential disruptor for traditional business models”.
Another speaker, A. Adamonis, works as a blockchain project manager at the Bank of Lithuania. He will provide his own perspective on the topic, focusing on potential issues of blockchain technologies. V. Kašėta, the president of the Crypto Economy Organization and board member of the Blockchain Centre Vilnius, will take on a more optimistic viewpoint on the development of blockchain technologies in his presentation.
“Blockchain: a Data Revolution” will take place at 4PM at Vilnius University Library, Scholarly Communication and Information Centre (Saulėtekio al. 5, Vilnius), room 119.
