A Global Sports Icon and Symbol of the Fight for Equality, Billie Jean King, Will Visit Vilnius University

On April 11th, one of the world’s most prominent tennis players, Billie Jean King, will visit Vilnius University (VU). She will participate in an open discussion organised by VU on gender equality in contemporary society and equal opportunities in sports.
The sports legend arrives in Vilnius to witness the international Billie Jean King Cup matches featuring national women’s tennis teams.
Billie Jean King is one of the most renowned tennis players globally, having been the first world number one and winning 39 Grand Slam titles during her career (12 in singles, 16 in women’s doubles, and 11 in mixed doubles). In 1973, Billie Jean King famously won the “Battle of the Sexes“, a match watched by 90 million television viewers worldwide.
The discussion will take place on April 11th at 5:00 PM in the VU Theater Hall, moderated by Prof. Jonas Dagys, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at VU.
