34th International Gemmological Conference is being Held in Vilnius

34th International Gemmological Conference will be Held in VilniusFor the first time, International Gemmological Conference (IGC) is being held in Eastern Europe, in the Baltic Amber land – Lithuania on 27-30 August, 2015. It is hosted by Vilnius University.

 

The prime objective of the IGC is to exchange gemmological knowledge and experiences by organizing conferences every two years, alternately in a gemstone producing country and in a gemstone consuming country.
Characteristics and perspectives of amber production in different regions: Canada, Ethiopia, Burma, the Baltic Sea are being dealt during the announced conference, markets and production of coloured stones, peculiarities of natural and cultured pearls also other related gemmological subjects will be discussed during IGC.

IGC is now in its seventh decade and it can therefore be said that the IGC is the longest surviving gemmological conference to remain in its original format with invited delegates representing more than 34 countries.
