Second Arqus PhD Week for Careers outside Academia
After a successful first edition in Graz, the second Arqus PhD Week for Careers outside Academia will take place in Lyon from 27th to 29th April 2022. Around 40 doctoral researchers, PhD graduates and career development experts from 7 Arqus universities will work together during several workshops.
In addition to the international and multicultural experience, this activity aims to train the participants in hard and soft skills for careers outside academia. This is done by making them aware of their competencies, enabling them to make them explicit to others, learning to develop entrepreneurial (and intrapreneurial) projects, as well as knowing the value of their PhD and skills and increasing their employability.
Programme:
The full programme for PhD/postdocs will be published in due time. Among the contents of the Career Week are:
- Mapping the skills acquired during doctoral training.
- Entrepreneurship creativity workshop.
- Pitching competition.
- Preparing international job applications.
- Career week dinner.
In addition to the workshops and activities aimed to enable learners to navigate in both academia and the private sector, the workshops related to entrepreneurship and creativity will allow them to become aware of what is an entrepreneurial spirit and behaviour. For example, participants will improve their competence in working with others, problem-solving, communicating, becoming self-aware and recognizing personal competencies. Participants will also learn to recognize and explore entrepreneurial opportunities by being creative, identifying an opportunity, developing and pitching it.
