Installation-Performance U

April 3-5 | 8 p. m. - 10 p. m. | VU Grand Courtyard

On 3-5 April 2025, starting at 20:00, the Grand Courtyard of Vilnius University will host a unique art and science project—an installation-performance U. Artist Akvilė Anglickaitė, in collaboration with lighting designer Valdas Latonas, composer Ramūnas Motiekaitis, and other artists, drew inspiration from the Foucault pendulum located in the Bell Tower of VU’s St Johns’ Church. Using elements of light, sound, and street art, the installation will showcase the synergy between science and art, allowing spectators to experience the sensation of the pendulum’s motion.

The performance, running three times each evening from 20:00 to 22:00, will feature a choreographed skateboarding sequence on specially designed ramps, immersed in light and music. VU’s Wind Orchestra 'Oktava' will perform a piece composed specifically for the event by R. Motiekaitis. This will be not only a visually striking spectacle but also an opportunity to explore the laws of physics through the lens of art.

Organised by the VU Culture Centre, the event is free and open to all—whether you are a contemporary art lover, a street culture enthusiast, or a science admirer. For a limited time, VU’s courtyard will transform into an experimental space where tradition meets innovation, inviting the city’s residents and the University community to experience a new form of artistic expression and scientific thought.
